Machine info tester.skolelinux.no

Machine was donated from USIT, UiO. The machine is a IBM xSeries 345 model 8670-M1X (2u rack), with the serial number 'KKPAH1X'.

Content

The machine is placed in the server room of USIT, on a 100 Mbps-link.

Partitioning

The partitioning looks like this:

Disk /dev/sda: 146.8 GB, 146814271488 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 17849 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1               1          62      497983+  83  Linux
/dev/sda2              63       17849   142874077+  8e  Linux LVM

Disk /dev/sdb: 146.8 GB, 146813222912 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 17849 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1               1       17849   143372061   8e  Linux LVM

The mount point looks like this:

ootfs / rootfs rw 0 0
none /sys sysfs rw 0 0
udev /dev tmpfs rw 0 0
/dev/mapper/vg_system-lv_root / ext3 rw,data=ordered 0 0

/dev/mapper/vg_system-lv_usr /usr ext3 rw,data=ordered 0 0
/dev/mapper/vg_system-lv_var /var ext3 rw,data=ordered 0 0

Disk setup

The two 146.8 GiB disks are mounted as ID 0 and 1, and the four 73.4 GiB disks are mounted as ID 2-5.

Raid-setup

The machine is configured with two hardware raid (system using RAID1 and data using RAID5), with LVM on top of the RAIDS. The disks are physicaly mounted like this (seen from the front):

  [ ID 0 SYSTEM 0] [ ID 2 DATA 0]  [ ID 4 DATA 2 ]
  [ ID 1 SYSTEM 1] [ ID 3 DATA 1]  [ ID 5 DATA 3 ]

Only /boot is outside LVM. The rest of the partitions are LVM logical volumes. There are two LVM volume groups, one on the system disk (vg_system), and one on the data disks (vg_data).
