Skolelinux/Debian-edu is an open-source project run by SLX Debian Labs. It is aimed at creating an Debian distribution for schools to lower their maintenance costs as well as those related to expensive software licences.
Skolelinux continuously offer projects for students at universities and colleges, and has had several such projects before.
